Loyola School, Mukundara is a co-educational private Catholic School run by the Kerala Jesuit Society, with its head-quarters in Kozhikode, registeared under the Societies Act XXI of 1860. We follow the educational principles of the Society of Jesus. The Society of Jesus is an organization of religious men, numbering about 18000, spread all over the world, of whom about 4000 are working in the 16 provinces of India.
The Jesuit presence in Kerala goes back to the time of St. Francis Xavier. Since the arrival of the Portuguese in the Malabar coast, Jesuits have been working in Kerala. Later the Malabar Mission was entrusted to the Venice-Milan Province and it was known as Karnatic Mission. At the time of transfer of power by the British to the Indians, Calicut Mission was part of the Jesuit Madurai Province. In 1960 the Calicut Mission was elevated to the status of a Vice Province. A few years later it was raised to be an independent Province. The Kerala Jesuit Province celebrated its Golden Jubilee in the year 2010.
There are 230 Jesuits working ion more than 20 institutions spread all over Kerala. Apart from the educational Institutions, Jesuits in Kerala are also involved in communication media, social action, work among the tribals, pastoral work, spiritual ministry, inter-faith dialogue etc.
In keeping with the Jesuit ethos, we welcome children of all traditions, irrespective of cast, creed or ethnic groups, encouraging them to play as full a part as they can in the life of the school.
